NOTE:  Amy Hong Sit, wife of Dr. Hong Sit of Houston, Texas, put many scripture verses to music – both Classical, Great Hymns, popular music, and even nursery rhymes. For this particular verse, she chose the tune from “Sound of Music” – do, re, mi. Many have enjoyed singing this verse to this tune, and have even danced to it, like King David of old.

Amy excelled as a classical pianist, and even played concertos with the Philadelphia Philharmonic under the direction of Leopold Stokowski. Hong inherited the leadership of some 100 churches in the Far East from his father-in-law Dr. Leland Wang, famous for his challenge, “No Bible – No Breakfast!”

Philippians 4:8 takes account of having “praise,” as a valuable part of our Christian life. Martin Luther thanked God for his gift of music and praise, and averred “that he would not give up his gift of music for much!”

Judah is the tribe of Israel that especially brings praise to our attention, for the literal meaning of his Hebrew name IS “praise!”

David in Psalm 100 exhorts us to enter into God’s gates with Thanksgiving, and into His courts with PRAISE! He is of course referring to Moses’ Tabernacle in the Wilderness, and Solomon’s Temple soon to come.

Ern Baxter pointed out the order here: FIRST Praise to loosen us up – THEN Worship as we enter the Holy Place. Intimacy with God is realized when we enter the Holy of Holies through the Riven Veil.

In the time of the Latter Rain Revival of 1948 in Northern Saskatchewan, there took place in October in Edmonton, Alberta the restoration of the Heavenly Choir, experienced in the days of Mrs. Maria Woodworth-Etter. This is one of the 12 Embryonic Revival Truths restored during this year.

I personally have appreciated the worship of our African-American friends. Their culture has brought forth through suffering a depth of worship that is unique.

Today the Spirit of God has us in a time of transition for praise and worship. Musicians like Darrell Dahlman, especially in Korea, are seeking to bring the church back to the Presence of God in worship. I am sure the heart of God is longing for His people to break through into a Restoration in this area.

So -- learn Scripture truths by learning to sing them. Let Praise and Worship lead us into pleasing the heart of our Great God.     Jim Watt
